What happens at an SCA event?
Firstly, SCA stands for Society for Creative Anachronism. This organization consists of many smaller groups. These groups focus on historical reenactments. They can cover various aesthetics, from Vikings to Renaissance and more. While the exact rules vary from group to group, they strive for as much historical accuracy as possible.
Many SCA events will be battles. The most famous SCA event is Pennsic. Other events focus on the artistic and scientific aspects of reenacting. In fact, many groups will have events dedicated to these topics. Make sure to reach out to your local groups to find out all their rules and activities.
What can I do at a Renaissance Faire in Virginia?
When it comes to a Ren faire, there are so many things to do. Most Ren faires and festivals will have booths for food and shopping. Generally, these foods will often have a medieval theme. Also, there is usually live music or other kinds of entertainment at a Ren faire. For example, there could be a joust, musicians, and more. There may also likewise be shows and performers. Part of the fun of a Ren faire includes dressing up in costume. You can look medieval or have a fantasy outfit. You could also dress up as a pirate. Most of all, make sure to have fun!
What happens at a LARP event?
Most LARP events, or Live-Action Role-Playing, will feature people dressed up as their character, often their own creation. Many LARP events are battles where people will fight with foam weapons. While the rules differ from group to group, the basic rule to any LARP battle is having fun while keeping safe in the process.
