It is a very well made heavy fabric shirt. I used this shirt under a cyclas surcoat for a 14th century costume. It worked very well. However I do wish that there were more colors available.

I guess I’m kidding myself, thinking I needed a Medium. It fits great, but I could have gone with a Large. I actually chose a Medium because I will wear this under armor, so I wanted something that fit “just right”. And this shirt does just that. Excellent quality on the embroidery. And not wool, but still pretty sturdy fabric.

This is a very well made tunic-style shirt in the Viking style, and fairly historically accurate from what we know. It is easy to clean, and is very soft after washing. Looks fantastic belted, with an axe! Tends to run a bit small in the arms—-they are straight , not flared at the bottom hem. I have a 42″ chest, so I ordered a medium, 46″. I wish I would have gotten a large, but that’s my fault. Great costume shirt!!……….McM

After seeing this tunic a million times & reading the reviews, I finally bought one in Burgundy & I’m glad I did. The color is beautiful & the tunic looks exactly as pictured. The embroidery is classy & some of its threading is shiny so it looks a teensy bit glittery in certain degrees of light. The shape of this tunic is different compared to other tunics I own. It has a visible hourglass shape as opposed to a boxy, straight line shape where the chest, waist, & hip area are all roughly the same measurement. This tunic starts out appropriately wide for your chest, clearly tapers in at the waist, & then flares out a little wider at the hips (i.e., meaning a little wider than the chest). I feel it makes a difference in your appearance as you wear it without feeling tight at your waist. If you have a waist that measures larger than your chest, you may notice a difference. My chest measures around 42 – 43 inches & a Size Large fits nicely. It’s a little bit oversized on me, but I didn’t want it to be skin tight, either. It came out of the package feeling pretty stiff. So, I washed it on a Regular wash cycle & air dried it. It didn’t seem to shrink at all & it feels a little softer to wear. I’ll probably use the Gentle cycle going forward & then toss it in the dryer to see if it shrinks–after all, it is cotton. I will update this review if that changes anything. GDFB uses such a nice cotton material for their clothing that I plan to wear this tunic not only at Ren Fests but around the house during the Fall/Winter season, too. It’s more like a real piece of clothing than a costume piece. It’s practically the same price as you would pay for any other type of pullover or shirt sold at stores. The durable fabric is not too light, but not too heavy, either. It strikes a good balance between the two. The short sleeves make it great for layering, too. The edges of the embroidery can cause some annoying sensations at random spots around your neck, but I feel that this is correctable & could also even vary from one tunic to the next. I wouldn’t take away a star for that. This is an excellent item for the money & I recommend it. I might even buy the Brown one.
