If you wish to head into battle wielding a sword with some true historical style, then check out the Sutton Hoo Sword and its design. Made from EN45 high carbon steel, this functional sword is based on a sword in the British Museum collection. This sword has a double-edged blade with a fuller running down its length. The sword continues with a short crossguard. The crossguard has a wooden center with brass plates on each side of the wooden center.
Next, the hilt has a hardwood grip. Brown leather covers the grip. The grip also has three ridges in the center and four brass, decorative plates at the ends, two on each side. Then, the hilt ends in a pommel. The base of the pommel looks like the crossguard. On top of this base, there is a red enamel inset on the pommel cap. The red enamel is meant to look like the garnet on the inspiration sword. Finally, this sword comes with a wooden scabbard. Brown leather covers the wood. It has a steel chape. Also, there is a leather-covered wooden loop near the top. This loop allows the scabbard to hang from a belt, not included. Take this sword with you to your next historical reenactment or add it to a Viking sword collection.
