The Steel Gustav Breastplate is an excellent option for LARPers and re-enactors just starting to build up their armour collection. The steel breastplate features a design that can apply to many different character types. The medieval breastplate also works great for Renaissance fairs and other historical events. Three inflexible pieces compose the steel body armour. The middle part features sloping edges and rivet decoration for a striking look. A pair of buckled leather straps cross in the back, allowing adjustments to the fit. We recommend wearing a gambeson or other padded arming wear for increased comfort.

Excellent breastplate with a quick buyer’s guide!
I received this a few days back and was pretty apprehensive at first, as it seemed like the straps were nowhere near close to fitting me. I’m 6’1 and 145 lbs so if anything I was thinking it’d be huge on me. I bought this with the rest of the Gustav Armor Set, which I’ll leave a review on once I’m done here. The straps aren’t worn in an X pattern, but instead in an H shape, like putting on a backpack… backwards! There, it can be easily adjusted at the sides with its buckles, and you’re good to go! It’s at the perfect height for a breastplate, and allows for full mobility as expected for chest armor. Not having a backplate is honestly such a nice change of pace, as I’m always used to a full cuirass. Now I can comfortably lay down and let my gambeson be my person-shaped mattress without the discomfort of a backplate pushing into me. I bought this with the Arthur Canvas Gambeson, and it fits like a charm. I’ve worn the Arthur Suede Gambeson before too, and it fits that just as well! Hope this helps anyone else who buys it, can’t recommend this enough! 😀
