Any pirate captain or fantasy noble should have a wooden chest to hold their gold and treasure. Keep your important goods in this Merchants Chest. Made from mango wood, it has a dark brown finish. Black steel bands wrap around the barrel-shaped lid and chest for greater strength. Brass pins adorn the steel bands. In addition, the chest has two round handles on the sides. There is also a rustic latch on the front. The latch has an eyelet for adding a padlock, not included. The Merchants Chest brings an amazing touch to any decor style. Add it to your home or office. It also works great at holding light items for a LARP event or reenactment.

Easy decision to purchase this item. It looks as beautiful in person as it does in the photo. It has an authentic, naturally aged, medieval quality about it. The wood isn’t perfectly blemish-free, yet it doesn’t have obvious–or significant–scratches, dings, & dents on it. I believe the phrase that I’m looking for is “the wood has character.” The finish is not overly glossy, either. I would certainly describe it as a semi-gloss finish that helps to make it look weathered. Not old, but weathered. It has lots of room to store vaulables in it. You won’t be able to store your entire Ren Fest garb in it, but you can fill it with jewelry, bracers, gloves, pouches, tankards, belts, leather straps, necklaces, circlets, cloak pins, headbands, scarves, & other knick-knacks that just don’t seem to go in the closet with the rest of your clothing. It appears well constructed, but I will not be handling it carelessly to find out how much abuse it can take. It’s definitely made to display & be admired, if you wish. Mine will be used for its function as well as its appearance. I bought two of them as gifts for my sons, but may decide to get one for myself, too. I will be getting some antique-looking locks for them to add to its authenticity & security. Medieval Collectibles shipped these extremely fast. I ordered them on a Sunday night & had them on my doorstep 3 days later on Wednesday. Their customer service is top notch.
