A fantastic addition to any period look, the Garen Suede Vest works well for the Renaissance fair and historical re-enactments. The leather vest includes eyelets beneath the shoulder cuffs for attaching long or short sleeves if desired. Four decorative buckled straps fasten the front of the long suede vest while adding distinctive style. The sleeveless medieval vest can be worn over a period shirt in a similar fashion to a doublet or jerkin. Made from fine suede leather, the Garen vest comes in black and brown color options for two striking looks.

Very nice, good quality leather that’s not too thin. Straps and buckles are nice quality and actually has a little bit of padding in the shoulders. the padding worked out great as I riveted steel plates in to the vest to turn this in to some brigandine. Very happy with the results.

This is an excellent vest! Quality soft suede leather & premium construction on this garment. Durable, stylish, & comfortable. It will work nicely in cooler weather. You wouldn’t want to wear this on a hot day, for sure. I ordered the Red one & it had a small, dime-sized area down in the front along the bottom hem that didn’t fully absorb the red dye. Other than that, I have no complaints. The color is beautiful & immediately catches the eye. I would buy another one without a second thought.

I bought one a couple of years ago for my Ranger outfit, and it’s a really sturdy, well-built piece. I will say however, that it’s made for cooler weather (or air conditioned conventions), because one you layer it with an undergarment, a tabard and a cloak, it is HOT. I live in Florida, and although this is excellent for fall and winter events, it is not something that I would advise to wear in the summer months.
