Hand forged from 1045 carbon steel, this sword is fully functional. It features the curved blade typical of Japanese swords. The blade enters into the handle at a gold-colored tsuba. A dragon adorns the tsuba. The dragon motif continues with a gold-colored dragon wrapped around the handle. Also, the black handle has a scaly texture and a matching golden end cap. There is red faux gemstone adorning the end cap. Finally, the sword comes with a matching black scabbard. It has a gold-colored end piece. Small flowers adorn the scabbard. Beautiful sword, definitely fully functional. I had to take a star off because the saya on mine is faulty, it fell off while i was holding the sword (not moving it), and i had to get 9 stitches on my finger. This definitely could be related to the fact that the sword was shipped, and not due to the quality of the sword itself, since the rest of the katana is beautifully crafted.
