With its graceful, artistic lines, the rapier has always been a romantic symbol of the Renaissance. The reality is that the rapier is a very deadly hand-to-hand combat weapon, perfectly suited for the swift moves of the duelists of the day. Many hilt forms were tried early on like this three ringed swept hilt. The handle is bone, inlaid with a twisted wire wrapping, making for a very secure grip. Because bone is a natural product, the sword grip may have slight variations from the photos shown, giving each handle a unique finish. This is a light, fast and deadly sword with a classical design. It includes a leather scabbard with steel locket and chape.

A seriously good sword for the cost. Nice sturdy blade with good flex, no apparent visible issues. Very comfortable handle, lends itself well to a Thibault’s grip, which is my preferred grip. Even though it’s designed to be wielded by a righty, my left-handed brother was able to easily hold it without the basket getting in his way. The balance point is just about directly at the top of the basket, so it’s incredibly well-balanced. If I were to deduct any points anywhere it’d be that the scabbard is a bit tight and it’s tough to get it all the way in, but the sword itself is more than enough for 5 stars.
