Delos Sword

Similar in design to the gladius, the spatha was a type of straight sword favored by Roman heavy infantry units. This Delos Sword is a simple blade with obvious Hispanic influences that is modeled after a Roman sword found in Delos, Greece. The sword is relatively plain in appearance, featuring an unadorned blade that lacks even a fuller. The blade has a subtle wasp waist, which causes the blade to narrow just slightly along its length before widening at the tip and tapering into a sharp, effective point. In design, the blade is similar to that of a gladius, although it is decidedly longer. The hilt is equally simple, featuring a rectangular guard and grip with a tri-balled pommel. The hilt is dark brown and looks as though it was carved from hardwood. Included with the sword is a black scabbard that is adorned with brass ornamentations, including a brass carrying rings, a brass throat, and a simple circular chape. The Delos Sword is an ideal Roman weapon, featuring a design that is simple but effective, as well as ruggedly reliable, making this a great weapon to include with your authentic Roman ensembles (we recommend an unranked heavy infantry unit), as well as a fantastic piece to put on display in your collection.
