Very good chainmail skirt without being too heavy. I’m planning on using mine to protect my waist for SCA combat.

This is a really nice skirt of butted mail. The leather harness means the skirt can be worn alone, without putting too much weight on the waist, or running the risk of slipping down during a fight.
I wear mine higher than advertised, just under my Markward breast and backplate. This provides the same protection to my gut as would have been provided by a full mail shirt. This also removes one of the weaknesses of this items’ design.
This skirt, when worn as intended, easily covers the thighs. However, the length dramatically limits the mobility of the user. If you intend wearing it this way, I recommend cutting slits down the sides so you can more more comfortably.
Another issue I have is actually shown in the product images: there is a gap at the front, where the straps close, which provides a lovely target for accidental groin shots. Depending on your gut size this might not be an issue, but it’s worth keeping in mind. I actually wear mine back to front. While that does mean I need assistance putting it on, it does mean the gap is hidden behind me.
Overall, despite these design issues, I am really happy with this product.
