The Cawood Sword is based on the famous sword held in Yorkshire. Historians have dated the original and its sister sword to the early 12th century. Made from 5160 high-carbon steel, this functional sword features a double-edged blade with a fuller running down its length. The fuller takes up a third of the width of the blade.

Next, the sword continues with a curved crossguard. It curves towards the blade. The hilt has a wrapped grip. Light-brown leather wraps around the grip in a spiral. The hilt ends with a multi-lobed pommel. This almost-ridged design came from Norman interpretations of late Viking swords from a century or two earlier. Both the pommel and guard are steel.

Finally, this sword comes with a wooden scabbard. Light-brown leather covers the scabbard. It has a steel chape and throat. Along its length, there is a ridge and a raised circle in the middle. Near the throat, the scabbard has a loop for hanging the scabbard from a belt, not included. This medieval sword makes a great weapon to wield at a historical reenactment or battle.
