For the price I’d say these are a good set of boots. However they are extremely rigid, I plan to treat them with leather conditioner and try to soften them. You definitely need the right pair of socks for these otherwise they will hurt your feet. The heel is sewn in separately and it rubs against your foot so if you have bad socks I could see this cutting up your heel throughout the day. I wore these to the Yuletide however and was a bit worried but ended up not even noticing them on my feet throughout the 4 hours I spent standing in the freezing cold. My feet did get very cold so these aren’t going to provide you any insulation but that was fine as I did not get them as winter boots. The shoelaces feel fragile, I’m hoping the leather conditioner will help with this, and the tongue like structure in the front is very rigid so the shoes don’t quite clamp down to my feet how I’d like. But again generally they were quite comfortable and did not make my feet ache, plenty of room and barely any slip. I got the 12’s as they do not come in half sizes whereas I’m normally an 11.5. Finally the soles of the shoes are nailed in look very old school and I do love that, I would just recommend caution if you wear them in hard floor inside as they do make the floor very slippery, and could possibly damage your floor with the metal. On the other hand I felt like I had a ton of traction at the fair grounds, in grass on gravel etc never felt like I lost my footing which was a pleasant surprise for me!
TLDR I would recommend these boots with the understanding you may need to modify them and they aren’t perfect or the most comfortable shoe on earth. Feels very authentic though!
