A blunderbuss is a muzzle-loading firearm with a flared, trumpet-like barrel and the predecessor to the shotgun. Most of these weapons are mid-sized, being smaller than most shoulder-fired arms but larger than a pistol. Although fitted with a butt, the dimensions suggest that most were not really intended to be fired from the shoulder and were instead fired from the hip. The compact dimensions of a blunderbuss would facilitate use in small spaces (e.g. on a ship, or in a house) and would also make storage easier.

Please note that this replica firearm is completely decorative. While it has moving parts, it cannot be made to fire live ammo and should not be excessively dry-fired.

Key Features:

  • Decorative Flintlock Pistol
  • Non-fireable Replica
  • Functional Lock Mechanism

Materials:

  • Made from wood and a zinc alloy

Measurements:

  • Overall Length: 29 Inches

A solid, and quite realistic-looking piece of weaponry that fits appropriately amongst any Sea Rover’s kit! The pewter/grey finish is in a satin sheen, with factory-applied weathering that does NOT look like some landlubber splashed black paint on it(!). All the details are there, along with being able to hold the hammer at half-cock. The only mild quibble I have is that the frizzen is loose, even though it’s held on by a screw. Tightening said screw does not tighten the action of the frizzen, so I’ll have to tinker with the workings myself; but for now, I unfortunately have a floppy frizzen (yes, I felt a bit odd typing that!). This minor flaw would not keep me from purchasing this hefty and rather menacing article of freebooting finery, *and I would suggest that some enterprising leather crafter make a nice sling for hangin’ over the shoulder, and offering it here on this wonderful website for purchase! Shipping speedwas incredibly fast, and the blunderbuss was safely packed for shipment. Thank you, Medieval Collectables for another fine item; I bid ye all fair winds, and a followin’ sea
