If you are looking to bring the style of the 1500s knight to your home decor, check out the 16th Century German Mace. By the 15th Century, armor had become so well developed that it was almost impervious to a sword cut and even a thrust. The mace, which evolved from mans oldest weapon, the club, could make short work of that armor. With a few sound full-force blows the best of plate was so damaged that the wearers movement would be greatly impaired, and that lead quickly to defeat. This handsome example has 8 flanges that are made from steel that has been blackened to a deep luster. The bottoms of the shafts are wrapped in black leather for an improvement grip. The shaft is hollow, to help with balance and weight.
Please note that this is not a fully functional mace.

Over-all construction is good but sloppy in some details compared to photo. the mace-head is well formed, it seems to be made out of solid block with each flange cut out identical. the “black” on head is painted on so if you are looking for ‘oil-blackened’ look, this isn’t it. shaft is NOT solid, rather, hollow metal pipe. the octagonal shaping of the shaft is NOT sharp as shown in photo, rather, it is rather round with a very mild ‘hint’ of flat edges. Hollow shaft contribute to making the entire mace lighter then it appears. and seems to be strong enough to work against soft target. (which it was intended to begin with). I would not recommend hitting this on a solid object (unyielding things like concrete block) as it may well BEND the shaft. Handle is covered in leather, and it is very comfortable, but again, the photo is misleading. the actual handle is round as oppose to octagonal as shown in photo. over-all satisfied. 4 stars instead of 5 because the photo does not show the reality of the actual product.

Good solid mace for a Crusader outfit

People don’t give this mace enough credit for durability and functionality. I’ve beaten mine against dead oak stumps repeatedly and have suffered no damage at all. I’ve had no bending on any part of the item and I’d guess that one would have to be beating the shaft against something quite solid for any real damage. As long as one strikes targets with the head, it holds up no problem.
